Opening of New Volkswagen Group China Headquarters
Marks Connected and Sustainable Way of Working

● New office building in Beijing called V-Space is home to seven brands and reflects the Group’s core values, in terms of connectivity and sustainability in its design, as it ushers in a new way of working for more than 2,300 employees.
● Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein: “With an increasing number of deliveries and models, as well as new technologies emerging, our employees in Beijing grew in numbers as well. Consolidating our full power in one location will enable us to create more synergy and strengthen our efforts in shaping future mobility.”

Beijing, October 15, 2019. Volkswagen Group China inaugurates a new era of work, as it held the V-Space Opening in Beijing, its new headquarters. As special guests, Dr. Herbert Diess, CEO of Volkswagen AG, and Mrs. Li Changping from the Beijing Chaoyang Government, attended the ceremony. While previously having multiple offices throughout Beijing, Volkswagen Group China’s tremendous growth in recent years has necessitated a solution to allow the company to concentrate its power together.

“V-Space is a convincing statement to support our strategy in China. This inspiring location demonstrates once again our commitment to China and the importance of the market for us.” said Dr. Herbert Diess, CEO of Volkswagen AG, “For the entire Volkswagen Group in China, I wish all the best and great success, especially in this new facility here in Beijing.”

“I am confident that this facility will bring more agility, creativity and inspiration to our daily work. Dynamic areas have replaced closed meeting rooms – resulting in less hierarchy and more open idea sharing,” said Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein, CEO of Volkswagen Group China, “Our new location will be home to a sustainable and vibrant working culture, as well as a great sense of belonging.”

V-Space was fully designed with the environment in mind, featuring the latest in sustainability technologies, such as separate heating and cooling systems, which ensure reduced energy usage and a smaller CO2 emissions footprint, a hot air re-use system, and 150 planned electric vehicle charging stations.

By reflecting the Volkswagen Group’s core values of openness, sustainability and collaboration, V-Space closely ties into the Group’s overall China strategy, in which it is committed to comprehensively transforming and electrifying the entire auto industry.
